Rainy River District Specialty & Diagnostic Transportation

About the program

Riverside Health Care is offering affordable and accessible transportation across the district, to and from Thunder Bay medical centres. The program is possible through the Rainy River District Ontario Health Team, Ontario Health and the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with local partners.

Eligibility

Transportation is available for yourself, a client, patient or loved one for scheduled health appointments from the Rainy River District to Thunder Bay. This includes: 

  • Diagnostics
  • Cancer Care
  • Mental Health
  • Pediatric Services
  • Ask about others

Availability / Schedule

The shuttle will run Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with departure from La Verendrye General Hospital (LVGH) and a stop at Atikokan General Hospital (AGH) before arriving at Thunder Bay Health Sciences Centre. Route reverses in the afternoon.

*NOTE: Travellers are responsible for their own accommodations if overnight stays are required.

Departures and stops

  • Fort Frances — 7:30 a.m. departure from LVGH (main entrance)
  • Atikokan — 9:35 a.m. departure (AGH main entrance)
  • Thunder Bay — 12 p.m./3:15 p.m. (arrival/departure)
  • Atikokan — 6:05 p.m. departure
  • Fort Frances — 7:50 p.m. arrival at LVGH

  • $55 Fort Frances to Thunder Bay
  • $30 Atikokan to Thunder Bay
