Transitional Housing
Transitional housing is a critical part of many health care plans for individuals experiencing mental health difficulties. Through the La Verendrye Non-Profit Supportive Housing Corporation, alternative housing for individuals in the Rainy River District is available through our transitional program. Special plans for adult individuals in need of transitional housing are designed to provide a living environment that fosters mutual support and self-help, develops a supportive community of individuals and leads to improved individual outcomes.
Nelson House is a temporary housing program with in-home and community programs available. It enables residents in learning independent living skills that can help them become self-sustaining members of our communities.
Individuals 18 and over with mental health difficulties, whose formal and informal supports are insufficient for day-to-day functioning, who are in need of advocacy, who are willing to live cooperatively, who have the ability to follow house rules and who meet selection criteria are eligible.
Crisis stabilization is also available with beds hosted through Nelson House.
