Community Counselling

Mental Health awareness, prevention and treatment has never been more important. A global event like the COVID-19 pandemic can be life-altering, and its effects can be felt for many years. Most people will have felt a wide variety of emotions that can be difficult or uncomfortable to deal with. Nobody in our communities should feel alone in these feelings. In addition to reaching out to friends and family for support, you can take part in Riverside Community Counselling. We provide options for client-based services and offer virtual, telephone or in-person sessions.
We can help you through challenging situations and help improve your mental health.

Counselling Services

Addictions (Alcohol and Substance Use)

We take a comprehensive approach to addictions counselling, providing assessments and referrals, case management, therapeutic interventions, and aftercare for alcohol addiction and substance use.

Ontario Structured Psychotherapy program (OSP)

In partnership with Ontario Health's Ontario Structured Psychotherapy (OSP) program through St. Joseph's Care Group, Riverside therapists are able to provide evidence-based, client-centred Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and related approaches to individuals with mild to moderate mental health issues related to obsessive compulsive disorder, health anxiety, panic, phobias, social anxiety, depression and trauma.
With strong clinical therapy skills and expertise, we can complete comprehensive assessments, develop treatment goals, monitor progress through measurement-based care and deliver treatment to individuals 18 and over who meet the criteria for care.

Problem Gambling

Gambling is a problem when it adversely affects relationships, family, friends, your physical, social and mental health, employment or finances. And it's not always obvious, because it can include games like bingo, cards and gas-station scratch tickets as well as sports betting, casinos and VLTs, with many outlets available online.
If you think you have a problem or know someone who does, we have a problem-gambling counsellor who can help.

Violence Against Women (VAW)

Intimate partner violence and abuse (IPV) is an international crisis that affects the lives of many women. IPV has the potential to cause serious complex health and mental health concerns.
Riverside Community Mental Health and Addictions Services offers trauma-informed therapy to women who have endured violence and abuse, including childhood abuse and/or harm experienced within intimate partner relationships. Therapeutic services offer clients an opportunity for a collaborative process to learn about the impact of trauma and violence, receive individualized support for their particular experiences, and an opportunity to address ongoing trauma symptoms and responses. Specialized evidence-based therapeutic modalities are available.
