The Information System and Technology Department has an opening for a Full-Time System Administrator position. The successful candidate must be able to meet the normal requirements of the job and possess the following qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY:

  • College diploma in the field of information technology or management information systems or a related discipline.
  • Certifications in Microsoft, VMware and Linux technologies is an asset.
  • At least five years’ equivalent work experience in an environment responsible for managing server and related systems infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft technologies such as Windows client operating systems, Windows Server operating systems, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, SQL and Internet Information Server.
  • Knowledge of VMware technologies such as vSphere, vCenter Server and ESXi.
  • Knowledge of Cisco technologies such as DNS-layer security and secure web gateway.
  • Backup and Recovery techniques.
  • Security technologies such as EDR, SIEM and system patching.
  • Working knowledge of Linux operating systems.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining all manners of server hardware and associated equipment.
  • Experience with server performance tuning and monitoring tools.
  • Familiarity with TCP/IP, basic network concepts, Windows firewall management, and operating system configuration.
  • Working technical knowledge of scripting code and scripting tools.
  • General knowledge of storage technologies such as SAN and iSCSI.
  • Business process and reengineering experience, as well as an understanding of the relationship between processes and policies.

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

The System Administrator’s role is to design, install, administer, and optimize RHC servers and related components to achieve high performance if the various business applications supported by tuning the servers as necessary. This includes ensuring the availability of business applications, configuring all new implementations, and developing processes and procedures for ongoing management of the server environment. Where applicable, the System Administrator will assist in overseeing the physical security, integrity, and safety of all RHC server rooms.

TRAINING

Riverside Health Care will train staff to satisfy skill set gaps and encourage individuals to apply that are self-motivated and want to learn but may not have all the expertise listed.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Strategy and Planning

  • Develop strategies for application implementations; architect the infrastructure required to support those strategies.
  • Act as project lead in the design and review of new server systems, applications, and hardware; conduct capacity planning as needed.
  • Lead, coordinate and participate in key process improvements as they relate to the applications environment.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with the Network Administrator and Senior Technology Director to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability or corporate servers to meet business demands.
  • Establish and implement standard operating procedures and technologies to ensure system security. 

Acquisition and Deployment

  • Conduct research on system hardware, software, and protocols in support of procurement and development efforts.

Operational Management

  • Check help desk application for entries on system and system resources issues; prioritize and respond to help desk tickets as appropriate.
  • Server as tier-3 support for escalating system issues; provide timely response to customer escalation.
  • Maintain, configure and upgrade various clinical, financial, and business applications.
  • Perform file system configuration and management, define and preform system backup and recovery procedures.
  • Perform Microsoft 365 configuration and management; define and preform system back ups and recovery procedures.
  • Plan and implement system upgrades, maintenance fixes, and vendor-supplied patches.
  • Provide Web administration support by overseeing and maintain Web server functions, such as assuring logging and metrics data are stable.
  • Monitor and test system performance and provide performance statistics and reports.
  • Create shell scripts as required.
  • Manage enterprise directory services, DNS, DHCP, etc. and supporting server infrastructure.
  • Define and implement strategies for integrating disparate operating environments.
  • Recommend and execute modifications to system infrastructure to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
  • Develop and maintain training materials and system documentation.
  • Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team.
  • Use tools to monitor and investigate incidents of RHC systems, system infrastructure and server room environments.
  • Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects such as, computers and peripherals.
  • On-call availability for approximately 10 days per month.
  • Travel between RHC sites is required as needed.
  • Other duties or responsibilities may be assigned.
