RSV Outbreak Declared on First Floor In-Patient Unit at La Verendrye General Hospital
March 22, 2026
Riverside Health Care, in collaboration with
the Northwestern Public Health Unit, has declared a Respiratory Syncytial Virus
(RSV) outbreak on the First Floor In-Patient Unit at La Verendrye General
Hospital (LVGH).
Infection prevention and control measures are in
place at LVGH to ensure a safe care environment. These measures are designed to
limit the spread of illness and protect those receiving and providing care.
Riverside continues to operate under enhanced
masking protocols across all facilities, as respiratory illness activity
increases in the community.
Medical masking is required on the First-Floor In-Patient
Unit at LVGH.
These measures remain an important part of
protecting our patients, residents, clients, staff, and visitors during
respiratory illness season. At this time, infants and young children are
strongly discouraged from visiting the First Floor In-Patient Unit.
Visitors are asked to self-screen for symptoms
of illness prior to entering any Riverside Health Care facility. Individuals
who are unwell should delay their visit.
Riverside’s infection prevention and control
practices remain in place across all sites to ensure a safe care environment.
We thank our staff, patients, families, and community members for their
continued cooperation and commitment to safety.
