Shelia Shyiak Wins Riverside’s August 50/50
September 05, 2025
Shelia Shyiak is Riverside’s August
50/50 winner, taking home an impressive $9,902.50. She was shocked to receive
the call, noting she doesn’t buy tickets to win, but to support a cause she
deeply believes in.
A former Riverside employee of over
18 years, Shelia has always believed in supporting local health care. Having
participated in countless community raffles and draws over the years, and
already contributed to the Lights, Camera, DIAGNOSIS campaign in other ways. Buying
a 50/50 ticket was, in her words, “a no-brainer.”
“Everyone in the community will need
these services at some point, and we’re tired of travelling out of town,”
Shelia said. She further emphasized the important role we all play in
strengthening our communities. “Supporting your home hospital is important!”
Shelia’s win reflects the
deep-rooted commitment that Riverside employees, past and present, have in advancing
care across the district. They know firsthand the impact that donations make,
the time and advocacy required to drive change, and the importance of ensuring
that quality care is available close to home.
With the jackpot in hand, Shelia
expands the example of how community members are making a difference - and how
our staff witnesses those impacts every day.
Now, the focus turns to September’s
draw, and this time, there are two chances to win. Tickets are on sale now at
www.rhc5050.com, and if you purchase yours by September 12, you’ll be entered
into a special $1,000 Early Bird Draw proudly sponsored by The Barn. The final
jackpot draw will follow at the end of the month, and with August’s total
nearing $10,000, the next prize could be even bigger.
Just like our previous draws, 100%
of the proceeds will go toward Riverside’s Lights, Camera, DIAGNOSIS campaign.
This transformational initiative is working to bring new digital X-ray units to
both LVGH and the Rainy River Health Centre, and the district’s first MRI. Every
ticket sold helps advance that goal and builds momentum for better, faster, and
more accessible diagnostic services across the district.
Tickets can be purchased online at
www.rhc5050.com, in person at the La Verendrye General Hospital Administration
Office (Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.), or by calling 807‑274‑6635.
Whether you’re a first-time player
or a long-time supporter like Shelia, know that every ticket makes an impact - helping
grow the jackpot and advance diagnostic care right here in our communities.
