Riverside Health Care Facilities Inc. is currently seeking a motivated and compassionate Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Community Nursing team on a casual basis. The successful candidate will provide high-quality, client-centered nursing care while supporting individuals across the continuum of care in community and acute care settings.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must possess the following qualifications:

  • Graduate of an approved Registered Practical Nursing or Registered Nursing Program.
  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a reliable personal vehicle.
  • Demonstrated strong nursing knowledge, clinical skills, and sound professional judgment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including effective verbal and written communication.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, leadership, and mentoring abilities.
  • Proficiency with computer systems, electronic documentation, and healthcare applications.
  • Commitment to practicing in accordance with Riverside Health Care’s Code of Conduct.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays as required.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation, policies, procedures, and worker responsibilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, front-line staff, clients, families, and management.
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment with excellent organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • Dependable with a satisfactory attendance record.
  • Proven ability to perform the essential duties of the position on a regular basis.

Key Responsibilities

The Registered Practical Nurse/Registered Nurse will:

  1. Practice in accordance with the Standards of Practice established by the College of Nurses of Ontario and Riverside Health Care policies, procedures, and standards.
  2. Accept clinical responsibility and professional accountability for the nursing care provided to assigned clients.
  3. Work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to provide care across the continuum of services, including community and acute care settings, by:
    • Coordinating and implementing evidence-informed clinical interventions;
    • Evaluating client outcomes;
    • Facilitating care transitions;
    • Supporting ongoing care planning;
    • Collaborating with clients, families, caregivers, and healthcare partners.
  4. Provide individualized nursing care and support services that promote client health, safety, independence, and well-being.
  5. Assess, monitor, document, and report client conditions and changes in accordance with professional and organizational standards.
  6. Adhere to the Ethical Framework for Nurses in Ontario as established by the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  7. Maintain client confidentiality and uphold professional, ethical, and legal standards at all times.
  8. Contribute to a safe, respectful, and positive work environment.
