Casual - Out of District Shuttle Driver for Specialty Diagnostic Transportation

REPORTS TO (Title):

Director, Community Services

The Community Services department has openings for Casual Out of District Shuttle Drivers. The successful candidates must be able to meet the normal requirements of the job and possess the following qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY:

 

  • A grade 12 Diploma and/or related education or experience acceptable to the Employer.
  • Valid Driver’s License, Class F or willing to obtain, and a safe driving record
  • Valid CPR certification
  • Working Knowledge of Computers.
  • Experience in transporting seniors, vulnerable to and clients requiring accessible transportation considered an asset.
  • Understand and maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be able to work in a Health Care setting.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skill with the ability to function effectively independently, within a team, with front line personnel, and management.
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment with excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize workload.
  • Dependable with a verifiable acceptable attendance record.
  • Proven ability to perform the essential duties of the position on a regular basis.
  • Demonstrated to be physically capable of performing the essential duties of the job which include lifting and manoeuvring patient conveyance devices.

 

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the supervision of the Director of Community Services, is responsible for the safe transportation of community people with a applicable medical appointments outside of Fort Frances, in Thunder Bay

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

 

  1. Responsible for residents in the district with an applicable medical or social wellness appointment, including persons with a physical disability requiring transportation.
  2. Responsible for maintaining a clean vehicle for operation.
  3. Required to do daily circle check of vehicle and maintain daily safety log.
  4. Required to maintain a mileage log.
  5. Reports all vehicle discrepancies to Director of Community Services.
  6. Follow all rules and regulation pertaining to Drivers of Transportation Services.
  7. Deals tactfully and courteously with riders, visitors, staff, and the general public.
  8. Performs other related duties as required.
  9. 9. Attends staff development programs and meeting as authorized by Director of Community Services.
  10. 10. Participates in the Quality Improvement Program.
  11. 11. Carries out work assignments safely and is knowledgeable of and in compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and procedures (ex. Occupational Health and Safety Act).
