Endoscopy

A number of diagnostic endoscopies are performed by the surgeons in this department, including colonoscopy, gastroscopy, nasoendoscopy and bronchoscopy. These procedures are done on an outpatient basis.

A registered interviews the patient by telephone in the week prior to their scheduled procedure to review health status, medications,etc. and procedure-specific instructions are given to the patient. Following endoscopic procedures, patients recover for a brief period in the Day Surgery area, monitored by registered nursing staff.
