Nelson House - Transitional Housing
La Verendrye Non Supportive Housing Corporation shall endeavour within the resources available, to provide a transitional program including both housing itself and appropriate special plans to adult individuals who require transitional housing.
Program Objectives
To provide alternative housing for individuals experiencing mental health difficulties in the Rainy River District, and who require transitional housing.
Eligibility Requirements
Individuals 18 years of age and over with mental health difficulties, whose formal and informal supports are insufficient for day to day functioning, who are in need of advocacy, who are willing to live cooperatively, who have the ability to follow house rules and who meet selection criteria.
Admission Information
The Housing program is designed to provide a living environment fostering mutual support and self-help, which will develop a supportive community of individuals and lead to improved individual functioning in the community.
The program offers transitional accommodations to people living with a mental health issue. Nelson House is a temporary housing program with in-home and community programs. The program is designated to assist residents in learning independent living skills that will enable the individual to become a self-sustaining member of the community.
Crisis Stabilization
In partnership with Kenora Rainy River Crisis Response Services we have one bed available for crisis stabilization for individuals experiencing a mental health crisis and are requiring short tem crisis stabilization.
