Long Term Care

Long Term Care is an Eldcap unit attached to us with the urgent care department open 9:00am – 5:00pm, Monday to Friday. The facility accommodates 12 residents with 8 private rooms and 2 semi-private rooms. This bright and cheerful area has a homelike atmosphere. Residents are encouraged to decorate their rooms to reflect their interests and tastes. Comforters, pictures, recliner chairs and TV’s are among the items that residents may bring into the facility.

The facility has a whirlpool tub as well as a shower room. Activities are held in a spacious area to allow room for a variety of activities. Outside spaces are available for the residents and include a screen gazebo. Pets are welcome in the facility to visit if they are trained, immunizations are up to date and they are well behaved and leashed.

There is a strong activation program which strives to provide quality programs to meet the social, multi-cultural, restorative, emotional, physical, cognitive and spiritual needs of the residents. Programs are offered Monday to Friday. Weekend activities outside the facility are also planned. Activities may include but are not limited to bingo, baking, exercise, music, crafts and current events. Volunteers are always welcome to assist with these programs.

An annual meeting is held for all residents and their families to discuss any concerns and any changes in the last year. A resident newsletter has recently been introduced and will be produced on a quarterly basis.

The facility always has a Registered Nurse on duty and a physician on call. Being attached to the acute care hospital and urgent care facilitates the treatment and care of residents who may require these interventions.
